Me and a couple of friends went out to see David Bazan play at a living room last night. I am familiar with his old band Pedro the Lion, but never really listened to his solo stuff. My friend, who’s a big fan of his, told me that his solo stuff is more personal and autobiographical — opposed to the fictional stories of Pedro the Lion . I must agree, when I watched him last night, all the songs felt really intimate and sincere. It felt like he was telling a story of his life: his struggle both as a musician and a person. I couldnt say I’m a fan, but I respect him more and his work.
